about this event
Belgravia Gallery is delighted to be exhibiting its collection of Royal Art at Cranleigh Arts Centre this June.
Now based in Cranleigh after over 30 years in London, the gallery has been honoured to be associated with the artworks of HRH The Prince of Wales for over 25 years. Anna Hunter, gallery owner, wrote a handwritten letter to the Prince asking him if he would consider making signed lithographs from his beautiful watercolours which could be sold in aid of his charities. The gallery subsequently worked with the Prince for over 10 years publishing some 18 different editions and raising over £4million for the Prince’s Charitable Foundation.
Lithographs were made from the Prince’s original watercolours under the guidance of Stanley Jones – a celebrated printmaker who had previously worked with Henry Moore for 30 years, and with Elizabeth Frink, David Hockney and others. Each one is hand-signed and available for sale.
The lithographs have covered subjects such as the beautiful royal homes, Balmoral, Sandringham, Highgrove and Windsor Castle, together with landscapes of the Prince’s favourite places, including Yorkshire, Greece, Klosters, Arabia and Scotland which capture the Prince’s love for the natural beauty of the countryside wherever he is.
In addition, Belgravia Gallery also has a collection of Original Etchings from the 1840’s by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, and paintings by their daughter, Princess Louise, which will be on show and for sale during the exhibition. These offer a rare insight into the early years of their marriage and cover subjects such as their dogs, children and love of Greek mythology.
More recent photographs by Lord Snowdon will also be shown and vintage press photographs of Princess Diana and her children from the 1980’s.
The show promises to be a real treat, and is one not to be missed.
All works will be for sale.
