Born in Swansea South Wales, Elin Samuel began her harp studies at the age of 10. She has since established herself as a freelance harpist in both London and South Wales. Elin enjoys a varied freelance career having performed with the orchestra of the Ballet Rambert, the London Chamber Orchestra and the London Concert Orchestra. In the Summer of 2018 she was invited to play with the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra in Germany where she was coached by world renowned harpist Helga Stork.
Elin is very grateful to have been accepted onto the Philharmonia Martin Musical Scholarship Foundation programme for 2019/2020 where she will be mentored by the principle harpist of the Philharmonia Orchestra, Heidi Krutzen.
As a winner of the Guildhall harp prize, 2019, finalist in the Camac harp competition 2019, and winner of the prestigious Welsh festival the ‘Urdd Eisteddfod’ on three occasions, Elin enjoys a varying solo career exploring works originally written for the harp as well as transcribing music from other instruments.
In 2019, Elin graduated from her two year Masters degree at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London with a distinction, where she also completed her Undergraduate degree in 2017. Whilst at Guildhall, Elin studied under Imogen Barford, Charlotte Seal and principal harpist of the Royal Opera House, Lucy Wakeford.
